Wheel Throwing Classes

Instructor: Ale (co-owner)

Address: 200 N. 16th St. Suite 210 (entrance is on 16th st.)

Time: 10am-12pm

Learn the fundamentals of wheel throwing in ALMa's ceramics studio. Designed for beginners and returning makers alike, this class offers a thoughtful introduction to clay through demonstration, hands-on practice, and individual guidance.

Through the course you'll learn how to center on the wheel, pull forms, and understanding of the ceramic process from raw material to finished object. Rather than focusing on perfection, we encourage curiosity, patience, and an appreciation for making by hand.

Classes are for two people.

What You'll Learn

  • Centering on the pottery wheel
  • Pulling cylinders, bowls, and cups
  • Choose a color from our glaze library - we have a large option of colors.

What's Included

  • Clay for class projects
  • Studio glazes and kiln firings
  • Use of pottery wheels and studio tools
  • Individual instruction throughout the course

Students can expect to complete 2 functional pieces throughout the session. Finished work will be glazed, fired, and available for pickup approximately two weeks after the final class.

No prior experience is necessary. We recommend wearing comfortable clothing and closed-toe shoes, and bringing an apron or towel if desired.
